Show News: 10/03/01

The countdown has started! Dealers, vendors and buyers are arriving in a steady stream of cars, trucks, trailers and motor homes. Three nights ago I looked for out-of-state license plates outside one of the local restaurants and couldn't find any. Tonight there are a dozen out-of-state vehicles outside. Among them we spotted Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Maryland. Thursday is a big day. Thursday is when most of the dealers will have arrived and when several more shows open to the public. Friday and Saturday are the biggest days of the Texas AntiqueWeekend with more than thirty antique and collector shows and dozens of flea markets. Dealers will be selling just about every imaginable including lots of kitchen sinks! Lot of local (year-around) antique and gift shops will have extended hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can really shop for at least sixteen hours Friday and Saturday. Shows and stores in Fayetteville stay open until Midnight those two evenings. Even the restaurants will stay open as long as customers keep coming in. Nearly all the shows are open Sunday, but many of the field dealers will be anxious to move along after spending two weeks hawking their wares. Don't be surprised to see many dealers packing up by noon Sunday. Check the hours of the paid entry shows so that you can see everything before they close. The weather has been wonderful but the forecast tells us that we might see rain Friday. The October AntiqueWeekend is often rainy so the dealers are prepared for anything. Bring an umbrella and shoes that a little mud won't bother just in case. [weather] We've starting putting photos on AntiqueWeekend.com that will give you a glimpse of what you'll find when you get here.
